Davis A. Whitfield-Cargile, Esquire

DAVIS WHITFIELD-CARGILE is a native of Aiken, South Carolina and currently resides in Beaufort, South Carolina. He began his law career as staff attorney for the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, Office Ocean and Coastal Resource Management. While at DHEC, Davis represented DHEC in matters before the South Carolina Court of Common Pleas, the Board of Health and Environmental Control, the South Carolina Administrative Law Court, the South Carolina Court of Appeals and the South Carolina Supreme Court. Davis has argued six cases at the South Carolina Supreme Court and five at the Court of Appeals.

Davis is a native of Aiken, South Carolina and was graduated from Aiken High School. He attended Brevard College on music and academic scholarships and was also a cross country and track athlete. He received his Bachelors of Arts degree, magna cum laude, in music. He then attended law school at the Appalachian School of Law on full scholarship. At Appalachian, he was among the top five students in his class and was a member of the law journal. Davis transferred to the University of Colorado in Boulder, where he received his Juris Doctor degree in 2008. He was among the top ten percent of the students in his graduating class and was elected to the Order of the Coif.  While in Colorado, Davis did an externship with U.S. District Judge Wiley Daniel, was a student attorney in the Natural Resources Litigation Clinic and in the Criminal Defense Clinic, and was also a member of the Colorado Journal of International Environmental Law & Policy. He received the Clinical Education Award for his outstanding service to the clinic and its clients.

Davis moved back to his home State of South Carolina after receiving his law degree from Colorado. He is married to Perrin (Walker), of Spartanburg, and they have one son, Japeth Finn.  When he’s not practicing law, Davis enjoys spending time with his family, hiking, biking, canoeing, fishing and camping in South Carolina's beautiful low country, parks, and mountains.
